Gonadotropin

Definition

A class of hormones, including FSH and LH, that stimulate gonadal function. Injectable gonadotropins are the primary medications used to stimulate egg development in IVF.

In IVF Treatment

Gonadotropin injections (Gonal-F, Menopur, Follistim) are given daily during the stimulation phase of IVF to encourage multiple follicles to grow simultaneously.
