Hydrosalpinx

diagnosis

Definition

A blocked fallopian tube distended with fluid, often resulting from prior infection or pelvic inflammatory disease.

In IVF Treatment

Hydrosalpinx significantly reduces IVF success rates, with studies showing approximately 50% lower implantation rates. Surgical removal (salpingectomy) or clipping of the affected tube before IVF is strongly recommended to improve outcomes.
