Hysterosalpingogram(HSG)

procedure

Definition

An X-ray procedure using contrast dye to evaluate the shape of the uterine cavity and check whether the fallopian tubes are open.

In IVF Treatment

HSG is a standard part of the fertility workup. Blocked tubes (hydrosalpinx) found on HSG often need surgical correction before IVF, as fluid from blocked tubes can reduce implantation rates.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is an HSG painful?
